Living in Clausthal
Clausthal-Zellerfeld has all the advantages of a small, close-knit community. After just a few days, it is easy to find your way around, and there’s always a familiar face nearby. Not just the university facilities, but also attractive cultural and recreational activities are within easy reach. In addition to special events in town, there are many cultural offerings organized by the university and by the students themselves. These include the symphony orchestra, the big band, the university choir, the theater group, the science booster association Science on the Rocks, the model aircraft builders’ group, the university diving group, and much, much more.
For many students, the flair of a small town amidst natural surroundings is a real plus: there is no big-city hustle and bustle, and it’s easy to get around – and to feel at home. When you have free time between classes, you can simply walk home, thereby gaining more time for living and studying. Even an excursion to the nearby town of Goslar takes less time than traveling from the suburbs to the center in a major city. And at the end of a student party in Clausthal, nobody has to wonder how they will be getting home. You simply walk: Most apartments are within a ten-minute walk of the university campus. The bars and cafes in the town center are also nearby.
