General
First of all, we distinguish the following concepts
Recognition
This refers to study and examination achievements that you have completed at another university/university in Germany or abroad and would like to have recognized at Clausthal University of Technology.
Recognition
This refers to achievements from vocational training, further education or continuing education which you can have credited to your studies at Clausthal University of Technology.
Transfer
This refers to study and examination achievements that you have completed at Clausthal University of Technology in another degree program and now wish to have transferred to the new or first degree program (e.g. you are studying business administration and WING at the same time and have completed an achievement in WING that you now wish to have transferred to business administration).
General regulations can be found in § 9 of the General Examination Regulations
For students
The exact procedure is explained here.
You can find the respective subject advisor on the homepage of your degree program here.
A recognition of study and examination achievements as well as professionally acquired competences which have not been achieved at Clausthal University of Technology is excluded for the respective module as soon as the registration for the first examination attempt at Clausthal University of Technology has taken place! Free attempts to improve grades are excluded for recognized examination achievements.
With a recognition of study and examination achievements, study periods may also be credited. Starting from a recognition of 16 credit points, one semester is credited (16 to 45 = 01 FS, from 46 to 75 = 02 FS, etc.).
Only (partial) module examinations in the compulsory or elective area can be recognized in accordance with the program-specific implementation regulations of your degree program.
A recommendation by the respective subject lecturer does not yet constitute approval of recognition.
Reasons for rejection could be, for example, that you have already taken the examination at Clausthal University of Technology or that module examinations are required according to the program-specific implementation regulations of your degree program and you can only provide evidence of one module part.
The final decision on recognition or crediting is therefore incumbent on the respective examination board or a body appointed by it!
Therefore, please inform yourself in time about a possible recognition!
According to the Criteria for Good Recognition and Good Recognition Procedures by Musil and Jost, June 2016, the recognizing university bears the burden of proving the existence of a substantial difference. However, this burden of demonstration and proof is flanked by a Obligation to cooperate of the applying student(s).As a general rule, the documents submitted must be sufficiently meaningful that the applicant can assume on their basis alone that a positive recognition decision will be made.
This is not the case, for example, if essential information for the assessment of learning outcomes is missing. For example, the documents must show thecompetence acquired, the scope of the module, the situation of origin, and the like. If this information is not provided even when requested, this alone can lead to the rejection of the application without the need to demonstrate a substantial difference.
For subject lecturers, examiners, employees, etc.
Appropriate information is made available via the TUC internal network. This can be found here (LINK follows).
