Effect of Hydrogen Pressure Atmosphere on Austenitic Steels
(EG 13 TV-L, 100%, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany)

The Institute for Materials Science and Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology is pleased to announce a postdoctoral position available for two years which we wish to fill as soon as possible. The salary scale for this position is EG 13 TV-L aligning with the German collective labour agreement (indicative gross monthly salary range is €4,629.00 - €6,580.00 depending on experience). This opportunity is suitable for part-time work and is crafted as a qualification position for early career postdocs.

The Institute for Materials Science and Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology has a strong application focus in Research and Teaching. The metallic materials team focuses on the effects of hydrogen pressure atmospheres on the material properties of austenitic steels. The prospective candidate should strengthen this area strategically so that we seek a candidate with matching background or interests.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Conducting an industry-related project on the effect of hydrogen atmospheres on the material behaviour of austenitic steels.
• Publication of research results in international journals.
• Presentation of research results at international conferences.
• Support for teaching in an area related to the research topic(s).
• Support of general processes of the institute such as administrative procedures as well as conceptual and strategic tasks and questions.

Your profile:

• Successful completion of an MSc degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, materials science, materials engineering or a similar subject.
• You have knowledge in metallic materials, coating processes, and mechanical surface hardening.
• Additionally, initial experience in project management or participation in research projects is desirable.
• Independent, structured way of working and quick comprehension. This can be illustrated, for example, by first own publications, generated IP, or similar.
• Good written and spoken English and, if necessary, willingness to acquire German language skills.

Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). The TV-L provides for a special annual payment at the end of the year. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension scheme in the form of a company pension (VBL). Accordingly, we also offer the possibility of job sharing in the context of a tandem application, as the position is fundamentally suitable for part-time work.
