Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(Salary Group TV-L E13, 100%)

for a limited period of four years in the field of "Thermodynamics of Polymers".

The position offers the possibility of a doctorate at Clausthal University of Technology at the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics and Energy-Efficient Material Treatment.

The research activities of the Chair lie at the interface between engineering and natural sciences. In particular, research in the field of experimental and theoretical thermodynamics is closely linked to the development of new sustainable, polymer-based materials, processes and products.

The specific task of this project is to develop the structural, property and process relationships of bio-based polyethylene and to model these, taking molecular features into account. A new simulation-based process is to be developed, which enables tailored product properties of bio-based polyethylene.

Embedded in interdisciplinary research teams consisting of research groups from thermodynamics, chemical engineering and polymer chemistry at Clausthal University of Technology, new and innovative methods for the production of molecularly tailored bio-based polyethylene are being developed. These approaches help to improve the sustainability of this material and could make a significant contribution to closing material cycles in the polyolefin industry.

A high degree of independence and creativity is expected, as well as pleasure in researching new, resource-saving technologies.

The prerequisite for employment is a successfully completed Master's degree in process engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, physical engineering, physics or a comparable degree programme. Existing knowledge in the field of modelling and characterisation of polymers is desirable.

Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states
(TV-L). The TV-L provides for a special annual payment at the end of the year. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension scheme in the form of a company pension (VBL).
