The working group of Stochastics within the Institute for Mathematics of TU Clausthal is looking for a

Research Assistant (m/f/d)

(TV-L E 13, 100%, location: Clausthal-Zellerfeld)

for an initial period of 3 years. A part-time employment is generally possible. Within the scope of the job, further scientific qualification (doctorate) at TU Clausthal is intended.

The Institute for Mathematics at the Clausthal University of Technology has a strong focus on application. The job opening is within the Stochastics group. The research focus of the group is on the analysis, application and approximation of nonlinear evolution equations with stochastic forcing.

Your tasks are:

  • Research in the field of nonlinear stochastic evolution equations (e.g., p-Laplace equations): well-posedness, stochastic modelling, numerical approximations
  • Publication of research results in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Presentation of research results at international conferences
  • Teaching support linked to the focus of the research

Your profile:

  • Successfully completed degree (MSc equivalent) in Mathematics or closely related disciplines with a focus on analysis/numerics of partial differential equations or stochastic analysis. Knowledge of the theory of stochastic (partial) differential equations is appreciated
  • Independent, structured way of working and fast comprehension skills
  • Enjoyment of theoretical and applied research questions as well as of discussions and exchange with other scientists
  • Good written and spoken German and English skills are appreciated
  •  Sufficient German language skills for teaching exercise groups are necessary

The position is remunerated according to the German TV-L salary scheme and includes an annual bonus payment at the end of each year. In addition, we offer a supplementary pension scheme (VBL).
