The Faculty of Energy and Economic Sciences of the Clausthal University of Technology is seeking to appoint the Position of

University Professor (Salary Scale W3 NBesG) (m/f/d)
”Mineral and Waste Processing“

at the Institute of Geotechnology and Mineral Resources starting from 01.04.2026

The individual to be appointed must be identified by outstanding research accomplishments in grading and separation through at least one of the following processes:

  • magnetic separation
  • electrostatic separation
  • flotation
  • other density-based separation processes

The applicant shall prove experience in processing of mineral-containing raw and waste materials, e.g. in

  • processing of metal ores, industrial minerals and construction materials or
  • processing of tailings and metallurgical deposits

and further be internationally oriented. Experience is expected regarding the development of intersec- tions and management of pre- and postprocessing steps as well as the optimization throughout the process chain. Likewise, teaching shall be conducted in the field of raw material processing and recy- cling.

The position holder is expected to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation within the framework of the research priorities of Clausthal University of Technology, in particular in the interdisciplinary research field of "Raw-Materials Supply and Resource Efficiency".

The recruitment requirements are based on § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act.

  • In addition to a university degree in a natural science, engineering or economics program, you have an above-average doctorate and a habilitation or comparable achievements.
  • You have experience in acquiring third-party funding [or industrial experience].
