Doctoral Researcher in
Artificial Intelligence for Engineering-Related Research Data Management

(if the personal requirements are met E 13 TV-L, 100%, place of employment: Clausthal-Zellerfeld)

initially full-time for a period of up to 3 years. The position is generally suitable for part-time work.

Current developments in artificial intelligence, in particular machine learning, indicate that these systems will soon be supporting people in their work in a variety of areas. Less visible but just as disruptive, this development is also taking place in the engineering and natural sciences.

Whether the acceleration of complex simulation models through AI approximations or the use of large language models to search for research papers and the associated software, we want to continue to make forward-looking contributions here with our team.

Your tasks are:

  • Research on approaches to use AI (especially language models) to support engineers and engineering science, together with our ML4E team
  • Further development of our metasearch engine Betty's ReSearch Engine , especially around these approaches
  • Publishing your results at national and international conferences
  • Support in the preparation of lectures, supervision of exercises and students.

Your profile:

  • Good degree (Master's, Diploma) in computer science, business informatics, mathematics or similar with an interest in scientific work as part of a doctorate.
  • Relevant experience in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence, especially in the area of natural language processing
  • Experience in the field of software development
  • Independent, structured way of working and quick comprehension, the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new concepts
  • Very good written and spoken German
  • Good command of written and spoken English

Knowledge in the following areas is desirable:

  • Experience in software engineering and with software architectures
  • Experience with common software development tools, for example Git, Continuous Integration and Issue Tracking.
  • Experience in web development and web technologies (REST, Javascript, ...)

Remuneration is based on the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states
(TV-L). The TV-L provides for an annual special payment at the end of the year. In addition, we offer a separate supplementary pension scheme in the form of a company pension (VBL).
